SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE [PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE]

( assertive sentences or simple positive sentences )

    1. if a sentence is a universal truth –

           for example : a. The sun RISES in the east.

                                    b. The earth ROTATES around the sun.

2. if it is your habit or part of your daily routine –

            for example : a. I WAKE up early in the morning.

                                     b. He GOES out for a walk daily.

                                     c. You PLAY football daily.


How it is used : In simple present tense or present indefinite tense – first person { I ,we } – FIRST FORM of verb

             for example : a . We PLAY game.

                                    { we – first person and play – first form of verb}

                                     b. I GO to school daily.

                                    { I – first person and go -first form of verb}


In second person {You} – FIRST FORM of verb is used.

                for example : a . you EAT food.

                                     { you -2nd person , eat – first form of verb}

                                        b. You TAKE bath daily.

                                      { you – 2nd person , take – first form of verb}


In third person { singular number – he ,she ,it , any name} – S or ES is used along with FIRST FORM of verb.

                          for example : a . he GOES to school daily.

                                     { he – 3rd person singular number, go + es – first form of verb + es }

                                      b. she READS book daily .

                                      { she -3rd person singular number , read +s -first form of verb +s}

                                      c. sunny PLAYS cricket everyday.

                                     { sunny(any name) singular number , play + s – first form of verb +s}

                                     d. The sun RISES in the east.

                                     { sun -singular number, rise + s – first form of verb +s}

                                     ( it is a universal truth also )


       Third person { plural number – they } only FIRST FORM of verb is used.

                                     for example : They TAKE their breakfast together.

                                      { they – third person plural number , take – first form of verb}

                                      ( Negative sentences : Sentences with ‘NO’)


First person ( i , we ) – DO NOT + FIRST FORM of verb.

                             for example : a. i DO NOT GO to playground daily.

                            ( i -first person + DO NOT + GO-first form of verb)

                                         b . we DO NOT LIKE such shoes.

                             (we – first person + DO NOT + LIKE -FIRST FORM of verb)


     second person ( you) – DO NOT + FIRST FORM of verb

                            for example : you DO NOT BUY this notebook.

                           ( you – 2nd person + DO NOT + BUY- first form of verb)


      Third person (singular number – he ,she ,it , name) – DOES NOT + FIRST FORM of verb

                           for example : a . He DOES NOT SING a song.

                           ( He -3rd person + DOES NOT + SING – FIRST FORM of verb )

                                                 b. she DOES NOT COOK rice.

                            ( she -3rd person + DOES NOT + COOK -FIRST FORM of verb)

                                                 c. seema DOES NOT DANCE well.

                            ( seema -3rd person + DOES NOT + DANCE – FIRST FORM of verb )


         Third person ( plural number -They)- DO NOT + FIRST FORM of verb

                            for example : a. They DO NOT EAT burger.

                           (they -3rd person plural number + DO NOT + EAT -FIRST FORM of verb)


                            (INTEROGATIVE SENTENCES – SENTENCES WHICH ASK A QUESTION)


        First person – ( i , we ) – DO + FIRST FORM OF VERB

                             for example : a . DO I SAY something?

                             ( DO + FIRST PERSON + SAY – FIRST FORM of verb)

                             b. DO WE NEED a pen?

                            ( DO + FIRST PERSON + NEED – FIRST FORM of verb)


        Second person – (you) – DO + FIRST FORM of verb
